In The Ocean: Grey Whales!

 Bismillah,

Before we start, I want to tell you about something related to the map.

Do you see that green line? The green line means rough seas, the red line means stormy sea, and the blue line means calm sea, and we have all of them on our map. It'll take 2 days to cross the green line, 3 days for the red line, and one day for the blue line. We have already crossed half of the green line, and tomorrow, in sha Allah. We'll reach the red line

So let's start!

I sprang out of bed, it was early and the Sun hadn't risen yet. There were still some passengers on the deck. I woke my Sister Sana. Then we went to the deck. To see the beautiful sunrise that the seas are famous for. Then, after some time, we saw some light for the east, an orange hey, the blue-ness of the sky covering it, after that, the blue disappeared, and the orange covered it. then the sun came out, slowly. As it came out. The clouds above it shown with a different kind of orange light, a colour that one won't find in a colour box.

The day went nicely, the ship going steadily, I sat on the deck. Watching sea birds, trying to find a grey whale. And things like that. Till I went in the shade, away from the open. Then suddenly, somebody screamed and said “GREY WHALES!!! " I ran out into the deck and saw one. There were many there. A pod of great whales, this was more than I had expected.

But, because I was leaning over the railing, and the pressure of the people behind was great. I fell! Into the water where the grey whales were still available. Grey whales are friendly too. And that's greatest–er–est. As I hit the cold water, I told myself not to panic. I knew how to swim, so I used that. But, a very small and gentle wave, took me away from the ship and nearer to the whales, before the captain could do anything to take me out of the water.

All the grey whales went away. Except for one, I tried to use my swimming ability. To get nearer to the ship. But the current was too strong, and my swimming ability could only keep me from drowning. The grey whale came closer, and now so close that I could smell its skin. Oily. Now she touched me. I felt like dying, but then, when I looked into its eye, my fears finished, because there was something in her eye that reassured me that the whale wouldn't hurt me. The shouts and screams of the passengers had disappeared.

The whale nudged me towards the ship, I stroked its face, the part of her face which was nudging me towards the ship. I got closer to the ship, and I could see the rope ladder the captain had thrown for me. I knew it was my time to go. So I said, lightly to the beautiful whale, “Hi, I'm Sarah. Who are you? White beak? Are you really white beak? That's incredible! Thanks, and come to meet me again", the whale replied to me with silence.

I was close to the ship, I touched white beak one last time. Then caught hold of the rope ladder and climbed up, there, I was met with a series of questions

“How did it feel"

“ did you get scared? ”

“How did the whale smell like? "

I didn't answer any of the questions, it was evening, and white beak was still, there, I took a picture of her, then said,

“BYE! Take care”

And then white beak swam away from the boat, towards the horizon.

Do you know that you can really touch grey Whales, Sarah had uploaded white beak's picture on a website called happy whales. There, she would be able to track her wake and know at any time where white beak it.

Like today's episode?

Tomorrow we'll reach the red line in sha Allah. So get ready for storms!

Salam...

Have a nice Wednesday.

Sidra khan.
